Microgreen Cultivation Project
Wadihuda Higher Secondary School NSS Unit No. 65 organised a Microgreen Cultivation Project under the leadership of the NSS Unit.
Mrs. Sapna K., Higher Secondary Botan tvy Teacher, conducted an awareness session on microgreen cultivation. The week-long programme was carried out under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officer, Mrs. Anitha P.P.
Seeds of different pulses and grains, such as green gram, mung beans and fenugreek, were used for cultivation. The seeds were soaked in water for a day and then wrapped in a wet cloth. After germination, they were spread in trays. Within a week, the microgreens were ready for harvesting.
The volunteers were made aware of the nutritional benefits of microgreens, which are rich in vitamins and proteins. They were also encouraged to understand that this healthy and nutritious food can easily be grown at home.
The programme created great curiosity and awareness among all the students of the school. Finally, the harvested green gram microgreens were prepared and served to the students.
The programme was an informative and practical learning experience that encouraged students to adopt healthy food habits and explore simple methods of home-based cultivation.
