As part of the commemoration of the literary legend Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, a special program was organized by the Malayalam Department on 7 July 2025. The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Farsana, faculty,Malayalam.
The presidential address was delivered by Ms. Supriya Krishnan, Vice Principal, Progressive English School, who highlighted the timeless relevance of Basheer’s works. The program was officially inaugurated by Mr. V. R. V. Ezhom, an eminent teacher, counselor, and social worker. He also delivered a memorial lecture, shedding light on the humanistic and humorous essence of Basheer’s writings.
Ms. Anitha, Malayalam faculty WHSS delivered a felicitation, appreciating the efforts to keep Basheer’s legacy alive among young minds.
A characterization program showcasing the vibrant characters from Basheer's works was presented by students, bringing his stories to life. The event also featured recitations in Hindi, Malayalam, and Arabic, reflecting the linguistic diversity and cultural spirit of the school.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Sulochana K, Head, Hindi Department.
