Progressive English School, Wadihuda, celebrated World Environment Day and inaugurated the Science Club on 5 June 2026. The programme began with a prayer followed by a welcome address by eco club student coordinator Hifza Zainab of class 10
The programme was presided over by Ms. Supriya Krishnan, Vice Principal. The celebration was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr. P. K. Bhagyalakshmi, writer, environmentalist, and Mathrubhumi Seed Coordinator. In her inspiring address, she emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living. She also planted a sapling on the school grounds, symbolizing the commitment to a greener future.
The programme was felicitated by Ms. Befathu, HT, Secondary section . The programme featured a mime on ‘Environmental conservation’ by the students of primary section and secondary section, skit by the primary scout team - Bull bull on “A voice for nature. A promise for the future” followed by a speech by Muhammed Mustafa of class 10 and group song “for a greener tomorrow “ by grade 6 students all centred on environmental conservation and awareness, effectively highlighting the importance of protecting nature.
As part of the celebration, students took the Environment Day Pledge and created “Oxygen Parlours” in their classrooms by arranging indoor plants to promote a greener learning environment.Students have also taken initiative for “Zero wastage day”
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Salima, Science Club In-Charge. The celebration was both meaningful and inspiring, encouraging students to contribute towards environmental protection and a sustainable future.
