On 7July 2026, Progressive English School observed Basheer Remembrance Day with great enthusiasm, paying tribute to the life and literary legacy of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr. PK. Parakkadavu , renowned author. Mr. Yahya V U, Principal , presided over the function. The gathering was welcomed by Ms. Deepthi , faculty, Malayalam dept. Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Muhammed Sajid P. K., Director of Progressive English School, highlighted Basheer's timeless contributions to Malayalam literature and the enduring relevance of his works. Mr. Pavithran.R C, faculty, Malayalam , offered felicitations. Ms.Supriya Krishnan, Vice Principal graced the occasion with her presence. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Wafa Abdul Latheef , IX-B.
Adding colour and creativity to the celebration, students of the Junior and Secondary sections presented a captivating character portrayals and skit inspired by Basheer's unforgettable literary creations. Their lively performances reflected the humour, simplicity, and human values that define Basheer's writings, making the programme a memorable tribute to one of Kerala's greatest literary icons.
